Default Getting a DIY CDL A

I am getting my CDL A the DIY way. I have already passed the written tests for the CDL A with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements. I am now taking pay by the hour driving lessons. If I pass the Road Test and get my CDL A, will I have trouble getting hired by a company since I didn't technically graduate from a school.

You might have the best chance at getting hired by a small private trucking company, or perhaps a owner operator that wants to put someone else in his truck.

I met a guy that did it the same way that you did, and the company we met at sent him back through training at a school because they thought that he got his CDL too easy. He was a pretty smart guy and was in the top 2 out of a class of about 25, but nonetheless, the company didn't feel comfortable putting him in a truck without training from an approved school.

I hate drawing things out, but you just might have a problem working for a big company or one with a good reputation amongst its drivers. It won't hurt to try though. Good luck!
