Default DUI question...

Hey guys, I'm new to large trucks requiring a CDL. Been pulling race trailors cross country for years & am looking to become a full-time trucker(as in rigs). I got a DUI 2 years ago and have one ticket for driving, briefly, in the #3 lane with a trailor on the freeway here in SoCal(had a perfect record for forever and then I got these in a matter of 9 months, uhhgg). Here's my question, do I have a chance of being hired or should I simply forget about it. Will anyone even look at me with this record and if so, do you know of any extra requirements or penalties until more time has passed. Any answers/responses will be greatly appreciated.

hmm i think you have to give it another year on the DUI just to be able to qualify for a CDL..or here in texas the cdl drivers handbook requires you not to have a dui for 3 years to qualify. other states might be diffrent...go on line and pull up CDL requirements for your state.

Companies are either:
3, 5, 7, or never on the DUI depending on the company. Most of the companies that will take you with a DUI outside of 3 yrs are your lower tiered companies. You need to wait at least till it is 3 yrs old.

I'm dealing with something like your problem i got a dwi in sept 05, it will be 3yrs old this sept and i'm going to start trying then. I've been driving 20 years otr and was not employed with a trucking company at the time. But i've never had a accident and my dac is great. So i'll see soon. If you find a company that will hire let me know ill do the same. I'm ready to get back into it...

Just make sure its your last one, motorhead777.

Most companies are not going to hire a driver with 2 DWI's. In fact I think you are banned for life on a CMV licnse after the second one if I am not mistaken.
