Leasing on with a large company may save you from searching for work.

i wouldn't recommend that. I drove for tri-state expedited and Conway NOW and wasnt too happy. Too much sitting around all day only to be offered a crappy run picking up on the other side of detroit in an hour and its 4pm. Or agreeing to deadhead 300 miles for a great run only to get within 20 miles and being canceled- then sitting 2 days before getting deadheaded to a better board and then having to rough up the settlement office to get your miserly 50cpm deadhead. Tristate had me sitting in Richmond Va for 6 days b4 I deadheaded home, Conway insisted on offering me bad Truckload runs paying 90cpm or less and run me to the middle of nowhere so I dont get an expedited run out of there and keep me in that cycle... I can go on and on. The loaded pay is good...1.53/mile for Tristate and 1.35 or so/mile for ConwayNow. Dont even consider Panther II!

So it looks like everyone is saying stay away from getting hired? Just go out on my own? I know my prices will be competitive.
