Default Truckers getting OVERTIME/Law change

I think it's time for everyone too make a stand on our behalf. Write, Call, Email your local Rep's, Senators anyone who will listen. This nonsense of drivers being categorized into this BS about not getting overtime is crap. If enough noise is made we can actually make changes.

It only would take a few minutes out of your day too make this happen.

at pepsi, we got overtime after 40 and at saia we pay overtime after 45. i think non union companies only pay overtime to try and keep the union out. i do agree that something needs to change. are there any other professions that do not qualify for o.t. after 40?

I dont think there are any hourly jobs, like a P&D driver makes, that are allowed to skip OT as is allowed in trucking.

BTW, that "law" goes all the way back to 1935, when the Social Security Act was instituted as well.

I guess we get to pay, while the oldsters play

In Canada, the O/T laws state 60 hours for drivers who work outside their city, and 45 hours for those who do not leave the city.

This applies to federally regulated companies.

Provincially regulated companies are supposed to pay O/T according to the Provincial regulations that change from Province to Province.

The difficulty comes in calculating actual hours worked when drivers are paid by distance. Would you want your log book to be the determining factor for your O/T?
