Drivers that go thru NC, please give me info

I was curious if any drivers who regularly use this route know anything about the follwing exits as far as VERY cheap flea bag motels ($40 or less) or diners.

I know it sounds weird but I am especially interested in old 50's diners and hotels with those old looking antique neon signs from the 50's and 60's and with CHEAP rates.

NORTH CAROLINA:

near HICKORY

near HENDERSON/MANSON

near BURLINGTON EXIT 145/148 or near (I40 and I85)

near GOLDSBORO EXIT 343

near BURGAW EXIT 398

Thanks in advance. Please help. I don't know anyone else with the knowledge that someoen who drives every day on those roads would have. This is for a book/research of old diners and hotels.
