Default Linehaul Runs

I'm looking into getting into trucking and I'm curious about linehaul. I know what it is and that you guys are on a cpm payscale but I am curious about what are the best companies out there in the linehaul area. If you guys could help me out with this I would appreciate it.

Newone30,
I could write a book about the ins and outs of linehaul as there are so many variables. Top scale pay runs from about .47 per mile to over .56 per mile. But, almost every company pays less to start and the pay graduates every year toward top scale........some take 2 or 3 years and at least one I know is 5. In my opinion the Teamster represented companies would be the best of the jobs as their pay and benefits are better but they generally don't hire newbies unless you're in an area where they base sleepers. I've heard Old Dominion and Conway will hire a new guy with a CDL. Also, with the economy in the tank all of the LTL companies are probably pretty slow right now. Check out the websites of Yellow, Roadway, Holland, ABF, UPS Freight,
FedExFreight, Conway, Old Dominion, Estes, Saia, etc.,,,,these are some of the companies who have linehaul drivers. Best of luck and don't give up....keep trying.

Don't be afraid to start as a local driver and bid into Linehaul. Most linehaul jobs are pretty coveted and considerably more money than local and guys can't wait to jump in.

yes, many companies DO pay per mile for linehaul. i however, applied to a compamy that has linehaul paying per hour, and its time and a half after 45 hours......

the type of pay would depend on each and every company.
