Default Trucking update from a newbi

Hey guys,
a lil update here now that ive been otr for what 4 months? a little info to help out the newbis looking to get into trucking.
trucking is not for every one ... but any way

After all in all
i am running around 4000 miles a week, and my checks are around 1600-2300 a week.
I run coast to coast, all in the snow and ice, so far no crashes or tickets ...

oh, and watch out for the slow swift trucks going 25 on the ice with their 4 ways on ... and stop using your brakes!

other then that, i enjoy my new job a lot,
home time however does suck, i dont really get it.....

so far so good!
thanks!
bobme

bobme,

Excellent post. Just the sort of thing a wannabe like me wants to see. Who did you wind up going with and how do you like dispatch and your overall treatment? Just curious.

ok, so you've been out there for what, 4 months....and you KNOW better how to drive on ice.....?? first, i do not work for swift, but i do know something, that swift driver knew better than you to slow down on ice, AND use his 4 ways......!! i guess he knew more than what, 4 months of your experience...?? are you saying then that you go MUCH FASTER on ice....???

as far as the driver using his brakes, i guess he knew what, more than 4 months how to use them...??

yep, all in all, trucking ain't for everyone....

but for you to bash another driver for being cautious out there ain't too "swift" of you either...........

and for the record, i got 20+ years driving, and I TOO drive under 40mph when the roads are covered in snow, and a POSSIBLE ice coating, till i can pull over...and yep, there would be times when a long line of drivers would be behind me, and NO ONE said anything to me about speeding up..........

i guess that what, 4 months.......you know it all............

wanna go "one on one" with me....???
