Default Snow removal atop big rigs

I know this has been discussed in a lot of different forums here in the past. Saw this yesterday.

Part of the answer might be enforcing tailgating laws or posting on the back of trucks warning flying ice or snow possible tailgate at own risk. Everyone wants someone else to be responsible for their reckless behavior.

yes, this HAS BEEN on many other baords, and my response is they can if they think i'm gonna climb on top of ANY trailer to remove snow.

yeah, some companies (according to the report) have some type of system right now, "for thier trucks", but what about every other trucking company...?? or O/O...??

will the truckstops have such a device to clear off snow...??

and if they do, of course there will be a fee involved......so, would anyone venture to guess if a trucking company will pay for EACH AND EVERY CLEANING...???

if you read the article,

" However, supporters of the penalties have specifically mentioned tractor-trailers, box trucks and other large commercial vehicles as frequent culprits."

which are right now, the state legislators of connecticut.............

if one state were to get its way, we all know more states will follow, that's a given.....

with all the BS we face daily, yeah, let's give more BS to truckers, like WE ARE RESPONSIBLE for what mother nature throws at us.....

next, they will try to have laws that say if we are driving near an area that there is a brush fire 20 miles AWAY.....we will have to pull over and sit it out, because the burning embers CAN TRAVEL 20 miles away, and they can land on our trailers, and we can carry them down the friggin road....

when is "enough" going to be enough".....

i'm so glad i'm getting closer to retirement each year now.............

62......where are you......??????

Yes, but it will only survive 3 billybigriggers and it will be piled up over on the corner of the lot because one of them turned out before the trailer was clear.

Here's the thread that was in the UPSF forum if anyone cares to re read it. ABF had it too, I think.
The snow, and ice on trailer roofs have to be addressed again.

Here's a pic of the device:
Trailer top snow removal

Still doesn't fix the problem of having 1-3" of ice/sleet froze to the roof under the snow...

No worries. Heck, it's spring now, they will forget about it until Feb 2009 at least.

Yes I brought this issue up at the beginning of this winter season on our UPS Freight forum.
we all put in our 2 cents and wound up with the same conclusion we get from our authority figures every winter.
Just go out,and don't worry about it.
However we did find out that UPS parcel has some roof plows at some of their larger depots that scraps the snow off their trailers.
I called the head of our safety department, and asked about getting these devices for all of our freight terminals.
the answer was they cost to much to put them everywhere.
I said a law sute could cost more.
Then I was put in my place for having a negative attitude.
So this is the end of the story up to this point in time!
