There's a huge difference between going on a ride-along for a day and enjoying it and being the person actually driving the rig, being responsible for the equipment, getting the freight delivered on time, dealing with shippers and receivers who don't care that you're not making any money while you're sitting, finding your destination with less-than-decent directions, getting lost, finding a place to park late at night when you're out of hours and dead tired, dealing with four-wheelers that just don't understand big trucks don't accelerate, decelerate, or turn like them, getting paid for 500 miles when you actually drove 600, etc...
Think hard before you jump into something based on a ride-along. :)
