Default Unsafe company

Hi work for a ltl company that has very unsafe safety pratices.this company runs trailers and dollies with bald tires.they run trailers that have holes in them door latches that do not hold airlines that leak just plain junk that is not highway safe!when you write this stuff up on your pre trip and post trip the company never fixes the problems.who can you report this to? i am not trying to make trouble but the driver and the 4 wheelers driving near them can run into big problems.

Just think, thats your family out there on the highways in a 4 wheeler with that type of equipment around them.I know during these turbulent times in our industry, shortcuts may be attractive. However, alot of companies are a huge lawsuit away from shutting down...Good luck in your decision.

Seems as if you want to report the company. First prepare to find a new job.

Document everything Dates, times, who you spoke with, what action was taken and what you were told to do. Was it fixed then, later or never or don't know. Take some pictures but be careful. Some companies have policies against cameras on premises. After you have several weeks worth of safety complaints (or even before) start contacting your State enforcement agencies. State DOT, State police (if they do commercial vehicle enforcement), State weighmaster, local law enforcement, even the local TV news (makes good "serve the community" PR) better if they are truck haters.

Remember the whole time you are doing this your butt is still exposed and you could be subject to fines if caught on the road with serious violations.

Good Luck

As a CDL holder, you the driver are ultimately responsible for what you choose to operate. If I pretrip and find a deficiency that is deemed unsafe by DOT regulations, I refuse the equipment. Out of service, give me another one, or I sit and wait till it is fixed. When DOT pulls you over and performs a safety check, you the driver will be receiving the fine. Like RRR said, start looking for another job. If the company really is this piss poor about maintaining equipment, do you want to be associated with them?

it all boils down to you, they may get mad but refuse to drive the unsafe truck, if they fire you you could get your job back and a lot more, you will be the one going to jail or worse getting killed for driving such a vehicle ,if they want fix it and you don't want to ruff feathers then go to the nearest weigh station and ask them to look at it,when they have to fix it there ,get bad points with the DOT and freight is delayed they will get the picture, good luck with it and if at all possible i would get a new job anyway
