I am very sorry for your loss. It's too late to Monday morning quarterback this. If I could not speak to an understanding human being in an instance like this, I would park the truck and fly, bus ride, or wait for someone to pick me up and go to the funeral. When I was able to go back to work, I would call Trucking Co. whoever and explain. If they said get back to work, I would go. If they said your fired, I would say thank you, your truck is parked at BR549 truckstop, and move on with my life and career. Yes, you do need the job for money to support your family, but if the company is this lousy you don't want to be there anyway. There are lot's of jobs out there to make money and support your family. It doesn't have to be in trucking either. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Welcome to the boards billysplat. Sorry to hear the bad news. The first thing I would suggest is to take as much time as you need to get your head strait after such a devastating blow. Secondly you might want to look for a driving job that gets you home more frequently or even everyday. Most of us on here are home everday and make a pretty good living. Keep your head up. Best of luck.

Someone who will probably be able to help you get over the trauma is an EMDRIA Consultant or Full Member. It sounds like your having a round of PTSD. From family experience, I can only say the capability of these people is unbelievable. I think Psychiatrists and Psycologists are a joke, however that is the spring board for what these people do. Find one near you from this link, call and talk to the person. They should be able to give you an idea as to whether they think they will be able to solve your problem.
