Default Fear of hights

Does anyone have any suggestions on conquering my fear of hights on mountain road runs?

Take your time.
Check your brakes.
Know your equipment.
Believe in yourself.
Find a guide.

There are thousands of trips through the mountains every day. You can do it safely too.

Yes, pull over, call someone to come and get you....Then go home and pack up all your belongings and move to Kansas. come on...... Seriously, I don't know, I would think that with time it would become a non issue. By the way, Welcome to Truckingboards, you will find a wealth of information here.

don't look over the edge....

wear sunglasses when there will be a severe lightning/thunderstorm, as the lightning strikes will appear closer as they hit the trees next to you. god knows i was nearly blinded by the bright light myself.

stay away from the white line (typically called the fog line) on the right...

stay with-in your lane at all times, no matter what, because any accident you have you'll be at fault for crossing the line.

keep focused on your job. its only a job, you're not climbing up some rickity ladder that creaks as you go up each rung.

above all else, don't look over the edge........

and if you see an eagle soaring in the sky, he's actually side by side with you, as you are in HIS air space...........

and i DID have an eagle soaring side by side with me, in colorado many years ago on the Rte 6 by pass...........it was incredible.....

What exactly IS a Mountain Road Run??
I-40 in Arizona, I-17 in Arizona, I-40 in New Mexico, I-25 in New Mexico, Rt 70 in New Mexico, I-40 in Tennessee, I-81 in Tennessee-VA.-WV-MD-PA-NY.
9AA in KY.
Cumberland Gap--this is fun all by itself.
I-64 in VA and into WV--here's a Mountain Road for ya.
Then there's CO, WY, ID, etc..

Are you speaking of a 2 lane Mountain Road??
Why then would you be on one with a 45, 48 or 53??
Most 2 lane Mountain Roads WERE NOT DESIGNED for the longer Trailers and usually have posted WARNINGS stating such.

Mountain Roads are MORE FUN at night because then one doesn't know where the high places are except maybe for the few lights somewhere.

HOW to get past ones fear of heights??
I have no idea.

One thing that worked for me was EMDR. Find a psychologist that practices this, tell him/her about your fears, and voila, they're gone. (Not quite that easy, but really close.)
