Default Experience...where do you get it?

I had been looking through the net listings and the paper classifieds lately. All of these companies, be it route drivers, construction (belly or dump and pup) are wanting experience. I can see where that might not be a problem is a big city, but how about all of the smaller towns in the country? How are some drivers, new or seasoned, supposed to get experience on a certain type of trailer or work-style when there are no companies willing to give some kind of training? Kind of , ain't it?

thats every where. unfortunitly it takes luck and who you know has alot to play with it. it's all about getting someone to take a chance on you. and that depends on you in an interview. some people don't interview well.

Some folk know of Family or Friends that have the Equipment required for the experience needed.
A LOT of OTR Companies do not recognize Local Driving Experience in much the same way that Military experience with Equipment is ignored.

There ARE Companies that will hire you and one of the ideas is posted by Jeff.

Well, at the current time, I am on the bench as I have an injury that does not allow me to return to work. When I do though, I was just thinking of options if I need to change my type of equipment. I like hauling flatbed, but if I can no longer do the work without re-injury, I guess I need to keep my options open, but I will keep all advice in mind. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you can bluff your way thru the interview other times not. Alot of landing a good job is about who you know.
