Hey everybody! I've registered here in hopes of getting opinions from truckers.

Here's the story:

I'm a recent transplant to Siskiyou County California, and am hoping some of you may know the location I'm referring to. On Interstate 5, north of Weed, California, there's a rest area. On the southbound side, behind the rest area, there's a now vacant commercial building. I understand it was once a hamburger stand called Porky Bob's. Seems to me, this would be a great location for a hamburger stand. I'm wondering why Porky Bob's is closed and I can't find anybody locally who remembers their food.

So if Porky Bob's went out of business because their food was crap, it may still be a good location for a burger stand. But if the food was good and it went out of business because of being in a bad location, it probably wouldn't do me any good to try the same thing.

Does anybody remember the restaurant and/or know the location? I'd welcome your thoughts and opinions.

I've not been to that part of California as I resided in the L. A. Toilet.

Is there a 2 or 4 lane road to access the now defunct Hamburger joint?
Is there enough space for Truck parking?
Is there access across or through a Fence from the Rest Area?

Maybe Porky Bobs was using other forms of Meat.
Maybe Porky Bobs was selling other than Food.

Maybe it was a bad Business venture considering Location.

The County Office should have clarification as to the reason(s) it closed or was closed.

CK - thanks for the response and you have my condolences for living in L.A. - I left there in '05 after nearly 20 years. What a tough place to try to make a life!

Yes, there is direct road access to the old hamburger place. I haven't checked yet, but I'd assume a person could also walk to it from the rest area, meaning there would be plenty of parking. I will explore other avenues of its history, but I'm really hoping that someone here will have some direct knowledge.
