Default Question regarding CDL Hazmat renewal

Does the Dept. of Homeland Security actually send you anything when you pass their criminal background check? I e-mailed PENNDOT and they responded that my "fingerprints and background check were accepted". My renewal card says DHS will notify me and the DMV. I have not recieved anything. What gives? I don't want to send in my renewal because if the background check isn't done, my Hazmat will be dropped. I'm running out of time.

they are supposed to mail you a letter. you then take that letter to your DMV and they will compare your letter to what they recieved. how long its going to take, i don't know...........BUT you claimed to have e-mailed your DMV....???? and they say they got everything....???

then you might be good to go.....!!!

in fact, you may have to appear in person and take the hazmat test again. at least in my state, we have to do this.

Thanks for your input. Here in PA, the first thing they have you do for CDL renewal is the Hazmat exam. Then the prints and background check. I lost 6 weeks because they rejected my prints the first time through. Don't know how they took 6 weeks to figure out my prints were not good enough. Now I sit around twiddling my thumbs while time is running out. Only six weeks left before my current CDL expires. I'm getting on the phone.

Yes, you will get a letter from the TSA. It has a confirmation number. I took it with me to get my renew, DMV confirmed it with their info. Took me 8 weeks from prints to license.

when i went for my finger prints, the young lady had me apply a very old fashion lotion on my hands. it was "corn huskers oil" or something like that. i ain't seen that product in decades, yet its still around. this lotion (she said), makes the finger prints more visable or defined for the scan process..........

yep, i just did a google search, here it is:

Buy Corn Huskers Heavy Duty Oil-Free Hand Treatment Lotion Online at drugstore.com

When they do send the letter don't lose it because it is good for five years. Here in NV. we get our licenses every four years so we can use the same letter again.
