Default Special Gift for TD Hubby

Good morning all....

I hope some of you can help me. My husband has decided to go BACK into truck driving after being away from it for 2-1/2 years. He had been a TD for over 13 years previously. A job promotion for me relocated us to the Houston area recently and he simply has had no luck finding a job that would interest him here that would pay him anything worthwhile, not to mention the gas prices per week to drive TO the job across this huge city in the first place. I feel bad for him because he had gotten to where he despised driving a truck, but we simply cannot live on my salary alone. Anyway, he's starting back with his old company on Monday. Can anyone give me any ideas of something I can get for him that he can use on the road that will make his job easier, or even something he can use in his "down-time"? I know there are a bunch of gadgets out there. He's only got a cell, a laptop, CB, things of that nature, and of course he's still got his microwave he used previously. I love him and will miss him terribly when he's away, but he's doing this to help out our finances. I want to get him something special, something that might be fun or even beneficial to him in his work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Default Thanks!

Yes, he's going to be out on the road. I just went out this morning to get him a few new shirts, shorts, jeans, etc. and picked him up some things he can use from Office Depot and things of that nature. I know he had Dish Network when he drove before and he told me last night that we can add to our current DirecTV plan a dish for the truck....so, doggone it, he's already thought of that. Would a Navigator thingy be good for him or do the trucks have those built in now? I just want him to have something cool to use.

My Hubby takes the Garmin Navigation system with him since he has come off sleepers, and is running single seat now, and he likes the garmin, since sometimes the company's directions are not always up to par. And you can change the screens and little gizmos make your vehicle look like a cop car etc...as your driving down the road, gives you resturants also. Good Luck!

Satellite radio- either XM or Sirius. That way he could listen to music, sports etc that he wants, anywhere in the country.
Has he looked into a local job with on of the larger ltl companies like Yellow/roadway, Fedex etc. Then he could be home most nights.
