Default DOT Physical Question

Well, I've been doing this job for many years now and have never run into this one. Went in to take a DOT Physical (pre-employment) and got completely disqualified because my pulse rate was 120. These physicals get me nervous anyway cause I'm always worried about my blood pressure (this time it was 134/84). After the acceptable blood pressure reading I thought I was on the downhill slide to a two year card until the Doc came in, did all his stuff, listened to my heart and then told me the only way he would give me a DOT card was if I took a EKG at my own expense. I never saw that one coming. I have never had any heart problems, some history issues with Mom and Dad but I don't smoke and I exercise fairly regular. Anybody else ever run into this and is there anything I can do?

Long story and I'll keep it short we caught our local clinic flunking guys on blood pressure. We think so he could get twice as many DOT exams. Was'nt able to do anything because pressure changes by the minute so he had an out but he was had and knew it. That stoped that and we no longer have to go there.

I would think any doctor could tell if you have an ongoing problem. A doctor treating one of the flunked guys said you can tell if you had high blood pressure for any length of time.

If possible, you need a 2nd opinion. Will the company allow you to go to another doctor?

Several years ago, I went in for my physical, the doctor that I was using had hard feelings towards me because of some personal relationships. Everything was fine until he said that my eyes were ate up with cataracts and he could not pass me. I walked out of his office and went right up the street to another doctor, who btw did physicals for pilots. He passed me with flying colors. But I wanted to make sure that I did not have cataracts, so I made an appointment with an eye specialist. NO CATARACTS!!!!!!!

I am trying to learn if there are any "deaf" truck drivers. I mean drivers who can pass the DOT "whisper test".
Does anyone know of anyone? Has anyone ever heard of anyone? I have a client who has a class A license....can hear that well.........but still has some hearing problems........

Question for all truck drivers..... can you think of any reason people with a hearing loss should not be driving trucks? I mean if they can pass the training, pass the DMV and pass the DOT physicial?
I seriously want to know why.....and since I don't drive a truck myself, I've got to ask the real experts.........truck drivers themselves!!

I know of one that has hearing aids. I am not sure how much of a hearing loss he has. He has a dock bid right but is able to drive. So with his dis-ABLE-ility he can perform and does his job... without any problems to my knowledge.
