IdleAire files bankruptcy, withdraws IPO : Business : Knoxville News Sentinel

i never used idle aire myself, but i heard of the many complaints, like the odor of cigarette smoke and such. it would be a cold day in "you know where" when i would pay money to inhale stale air..........

I liked using it for the air, I never smelled stale smoke or anything else, but the cost could be prohibitive. Using the air alone would cost around $30 for a nice night of comfort. Their "On Demand" video rentals were outrageous, charging $12 to rent a movie that had been out on video for months. I don't remember the pricing for other things, although their wireless internet access was reasonable and didn't place bandwidth restrictions on you like Siricomm and Flying J wi-fi does.

I think the requirement for head-in parking probably hurt them as well. It's no fun trying to back out of a space in the morning when 200 other trucks are circling around and trying to get out.

Maybe someone else can take the concept and improve on it somewhere down the road. I hope so.

Idleaire is in chapter 11 which is reorginization, not liquidation. There is no plan to discontinue services at this time.

I think a lot of the problem too, are lazy people that park in the idleaire spots but never actually have it turned on. this takes up an actuall paying customers space. I have seen countless trucks parked in idleaire spots because they are just too dang lazy to walk an extra 20 or 30 feet.
