Default Trip to the USA

HI people Hey I was thinking( whats that smell lol) after my back operation( soon I hope )if all goes well I would like to come to the USA & visit my relitives in Sheboygan WI, I thought a good way to see the USA would be to ride shotgun with some fellow truckers, cant think of a better way of seeing the real United States, hey we all see Los Angelas/ New York etc on the tv, but I want to see the rest of the country, what would I be best to do, just hitch rides at truck stops, or write to trucking companies for permission to ride with there drivers? Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated, also I presume the best time weather wise would be around June /July ( our winter ) don't fancy snow & ice LOL. Just a thought, every one loves a dreamer.

Cheers kiwiray

Most companies have thier drivers fill out rider forms. Get with a driver and if he'll let you ride with him he (or she) can get the form, fax it to you, you fill it out and fax it back. They can then give it to thier company and when you get here you'll be ready to ride. Good luck.

Well let's see:
To meet the REAL creme de la creme of Truckers and for that hard core Trucking feel, one should create a sign and hang around at truck Slops hoping for a ride to where ever.
It has worked for many years for many People and for the TRUE ADVENTURER, this would most definitely be the way to go.

Thanks for the replys people, Yep Cerberus I quess your right, truck slops would be the way, but my Momma always told me to be careful around strangers (lol) & if truck slops over your way are anything like ours WELLLLL. But hey you got to admit it's the way to see your country, I thought about flying to LA then the train to Chicago then bus to Sheboygan, but it all depends on what happens after the operation.
Cheers & Beers Ray

a handheld cb and a cardboard sign you wouldnt have any trouble hitching a ride. The accent might get the diesel mamas to give u a ride too.
