Default Blew by scale house

I screwed up today. I blew by a scale house in Kentucky. I don't know where my mind was, but traffic was light and I didn't see the sign. With no trucks slowing in front of me to get off, I didn't notice it until I was already past the ramp. I have never done this before and didn't know what to do, so I just kept driving and watched my mirror for DOT to pull up behind me. They never did though. So my question is, should I expect them to call my company or something or send me a ticket, or am I in the clear since they didn't pull me over?

Jon

Yeah, driver, it's cool. If they didnt chase you down, you must not be the big bad deperado they was lookin' for. I havent heard of any state with cameras and electronic tickets for scale runners yet.

Now if your conscience really bothers you, next time you cross that scale , stop and turn yourself in.

Default Scale House

I have done that twice. I was adjusting my radio one time(XM eliminated that), the next time I was just not paying any attention. I have a policy concerning this and any other actions I may get in to. NO SURRENDER! Wait till you see the flashing lights behind you. The most important thing is to get from point A to point B without hurting others or yourself. Then all the other things fall in after that like no damage to freight and equipment. Spend your money at home not out their in the truckstops.
Little side note: I was rolling down a big hill, going about 75 in a 55. No one mentioned the state cop in the middle. I rolled past him and their was nothing I could do. I did not hit my brakes. I just kept rolling. He came out after me and just as he was getting close enough, the car in front of me had a blow out and dived into the wooded medial. I just smiled and kept rolling towards home.

You might be a supertrucker if blow by the scale house! Just kidding.
I to just recently blew by a scale house here in Ohio, and same thing i kept looking in my mirrors, and a week later I got a over weight ticket. While in the scale house with the scale master I brought up what would happen if caught(blowing by a scale house). He first said he would have to see the company name on truck, truck number if possible, and to have a trooper on sight or near by to go get you. I believbe he said if caught it would be a $500.00 fine, and 2 points off license. I could be wrong.

Default I didn't see the faded yellow flags

I was on I-87 in NY the other day southbound talking to my wife on the hands free cell and I missed the first set of (orange or yellow) flags attached to the speed limit signs indicating Dot inspections ahead. Luckily I happen to notice the last set and they were pretty faded out. I think a fair penalty for a driver that misses the scale house or inspection area is that he should be made to drive down the road, turn around and return to the location. You know we would all feel stupid, and yet grateful for the opportunity to make things good.
If the driver does not return then the reporting office can issue his ticket.
Unfortunately we don't live in a world where American men help and support American men. We are all about fines, tickets and generating revenue. What a shame.
