Default Log books

I have a question about log books. A friend of mine helped his dad out, the dad has no current driver's license nor CDL, but drives his own semi with trailer. On the log books, my friend signed a couple of logs, but never drives the semi. Now, he has been supoenaed to appear in Fed court. My friends' dad has a record of multiple dui's and drug distributing, etc. Do you think my friend will be serving time, or he will get a fine??

Helping a fellow driver is fine. Helping some random moron who helped a dangerous and irresponsible driver stay on the road isn't.

Considering the fact that a log book is a federal document, I'd say your friend is in some trouble. Falsifying a federal record isn't a good idea. Falsifying a federal record in order to help a felon keep driving is most likely going to be a felony charge.

Personally, I hope your friend does some time in prison for that stupidity. I love my father, but I would never consider pulling a stunt like that. He put the general public at serious risk by helping his criminal father keep driving.

I would guess your friend and his dad will be vacationing in "CLUB FED" for some time. How long depends on how much of an example the fed wants to make of them.
