Default "We" Need Off Shore Drilling"

And "We" need Dubai to control the ports while we're doing the drilling. Get a clue people. Do you know the person T. Boone Pickens? Get some clues

It won't make a difference in prices though.

What good does it do to drill for more oil when this country has no more refining capacity?

I believe it has been over 30 years since we had a refinery built in this country. There is so much NIMBY (not in my back yard) attitude in this country that I doubt anyone would be willing to permit a new refinery to be built any where near there house.

Lets not forget that our country is actually EXPORTING diesel fuel to other countries! thats right boys and girls EXPORTING! Other countries are more than willing to pay a premium price for diesel fuel regardless of where it came from.

I understand there is actually a huge tax loop hole regarding bio diesel as well. The story is that tankers of diesel fuel come into a US port, pick up a few thousand gallons of bio diesel, mix it with their regular diesel, and then get a major tax break from the US government while that tanker heads for other ports over seas to deliver the fuel. Google "splash and dash bio diesel" for details on this scam.

Price of oil has been dropping for 3 weeks and they are still claiming off shore drilling is necessary. Not one well has been sunk yet mind you. They want to lie and take credit instead of just admitting it was Speculators and other market influences.

Question

Let's look at this possible scenario which has been postulated by many before me:
Hypothetically speaking and for proof go to www.itdontexist.argh
There has been a resolution/law passed enabling oil companies to perform their tasks of seeking and drilling for more oil.
The oil companies have a daunting task ahead.
They begin by doing research, test drills, killing the environmentalists that stand in the way (because of a sub resolution that permits this), etc.., which culminate in about a two year span.
So, it is now 2 years since the resolution/law has been passed and WE are still without any help for the Fuel dilemma however we have a few less environmentalists standing in the way.

Eventually we begin to extract the oil, refine it, and are once again on top of the Chemical mire, however it really doesn't matter since we've been at WAR with Russina (China and Russia merged) for control of what oil currently exists and there are less People on the Planet because OF the War. Saudi Arabia isn't a concern anymore since they were vaporized for alliances with Iran.

So in essence, hypothetically speaking, what's the point of new offshore drilling??
