I am not sure what you are asking.

If you already know you want a Volvo with a Cummins motor, then it just a matter of picking the horsepower rating, the transmission speeds, axle ratios and so forth that you need and various other items that are nice to have but not nesessarily needed.

As far as mileage, I wouldnt touch anything with more then 250K, unless the owner has proof that it was well taken care of an not abused/had major work done to it. Even then I would be hesitant to buy from a non-owner/driver, as owner-operators take better care of their rigs, on the whole.

Stay away from any rig that has had newbies or multiple drivers using it, as I can assure you that its been beat up by some of those people and the drivetrain will have something wrong or ready to break-down as soon as you buy it. You dont want a truck that some newbie learned to drive on.

If you can clarify more about what you want, maybe some of us could be of more assistance.

Dont go too far overboard on the cubic inches or the number of speeds you have.

400HP and 13 speeds will do it, in most cases. Thats a mistake I have seen lots of drivers make, before.

BTW, good luck on owning your own rig. These are tough times for O/O's but if you can make it in this business, more power to you!!

You need to keep in mind that you need a rig that will hold up its resale value to. Personally I dont think I would buy a company freight rig. Have you done the homework to figure out if you can make a profit on your business yet?

Remember as a businessman-O/O you need to make quarterly payments to uncle sam and your health insurance will no longer be under a group plan, making pre-existing conditions and premiums a real possibility for grief down the line.
