MichaelSpradley is on a distinguished road
Default Good starting place?

About Me: I just finished my truck driving course August 7 at San Jacinto College and received my certificate. I have all my endorsement tests passed (hazmat is pending fingerprint/background check to go thru). I'm 25 and have never had a ticket for anything, however I have had large employment gaps (my downfall).

Having said that, now I'm looking for a good starting point (preferably ltl, but I'm open) living in Houston, but willing to relocate if needed.

Places I've applied -- UPS, Fedex, Yellow, ABF, USF, Roadway, Maverick and several others, If you can think of any I'm missing or have an Immediate position open feel free to respond here or drop me a line

Regards,
Michael

first, remove your phone numbers, and even your email addy....there can be "loonies" on this board, or ANY WEBSITE you go to....

as for your unemployment gaps, not really a big deal, BUT you will have to account for that time somehow. like unemployment check stubs for starters. the unemployment office "might" be able to provide you with a print out of your time while you were collecting checks...

NOW, if you didn't have unemployment checks coming in, then you probably WILL need typed up letters from several people that know you, preferably NOT related to you, that can substaintiate your unemployment times.....these would have to be listed in order of dates by the way....

you can help those people willing to help you by, asking them first, then telling them your situation, then YOU WILL type up the letters for them, as a convience to them for thier time, helping you......

in part the letter "might say"..

To whom it may concern:
I have known Michael S. for ( enter number of years here),
address at:
city, state, zip code

I can attest that he was unemployed from 00/00/0000 to or about 00/00/0000.

If you need to contact me for further information, you may call me at
(000)-000-0000 between the hours of xyz and abc........

thank you

Mr. XHT

each person you do this for, will REQUIRE different times for the unemployment periods.......

good luck

Good luck, you have come to the right place for advice and info, alot of experience here.

Pro driver is right on the money with accounting for character and employment gaps. A clean mvr/criminal is a must. Get some experience 2-3 years at one place. Then start going after the driving career you want. Sometimes you get lucky with the first job.

Find em' and grind em'
