I've had 3 guys looking for drivers but when i ask them about the pay they cant tell you what they will pay you . i tried to help a guy that wonted to put his truck on the road and lease it on to a company and i did the figuring what the truck coast to run in miles on a trip with different figures as to what the truck fuel millage was and the cost of fuel and what it would take to pay a driver and make the owner of the truck money .it came down to the truck would haft to get a round $3:00 a mile paying a driver say 32% of the load for a average driver wages to be around $600 to $800 a week. its just not in the cards.in less the driver runs a round 3500 miles or more a week.but i still wanting to do my part and and drive for a living if i can. with most companies if there only paying $1:10 are less a mile it be hard to haft to pay a drive and make any money for him self i don't think it can be done unless the small company screwed the drive out of his pay.if there's some one who reads this can dispute my words bring it on. I'm waiting for some answers my figures say other wise. |
you got the same magazine as i did, and i posted the anti-idling laws in another thread....
basically, "for driver comfort during the rest period/break" is what is allowed. idling needlessly at a warehouse or on the city streets is where the "crack downs" should be taking place.
i have not heard of anyone getting tickets yet for unecessary idling, but give it some time, and some driver will say something like,
"i know a guy that knows a guy, that knew of a guy, that a friend of his knew of some guy that was related to some guy that was talking to some guy, that was saying that he got a ticket"..........
and so the "story" goes..............
just idling your truck for "driver comfort" on your 10 hour break........should be no problem.....also, BE SURE to show yourself "in the sleeper" on your log, if the coppers come a knocking.........
