Default are drivers really getting tickets for idling

is trying to get back on the road and i was reading my land line magazine a few days ago and came a cross idling restriction and fines for all the states and was shocked to read what the fines could be some are $25:00 first offence some $375 first offence some in new york state have posting in the thousands and up to 90 days in jail .what stupidity . truckers are being singled out by means of revenue is all for money . most companies can't afford to dish out $7,000 for apu"s not now with the coast of fuel .id like to see some one tell people who drive there cars in the winter they will be fined if they see there cars idling over 5 min to warm their cars up ,it won't happen.sorry *** cal. started this crap and other states followed saying oh its a good way to get revenue make the truckers pay."we could take every car every plane every thing that runs off fuels and unless the whole world china russia were to stop burning fossil fuels it would not change global warming we can"t do it all .the speaker of the house is the typical rich ***** that never went to a grocery store to buy her on grocery's never had a drivers license. she spends more money in a week flying back to sanfransicko were she lives at tax payers expense that the average person makes in a life time .2 faced as hell all them people think they have the power to change the world and make it green look at All gore he"s the same way spends hundreds of thousands on making his way a round the world with corporate and tax payers money flying but he think every one should be green what hypocrites they all are.people need to no that if things don't stop with the talking trucks for there way of getting more income to in rich there states economy there going to be a down and out shout down some day it will happen trucking companies are being weeded out , only the best run companies with built in contract pricing at truck stops nation wide are the only ones that can make it . owner operators are trying to put there truck back on the road but there not going to be able to pay drivers any wages % by the mile what ever the way of pay . I've had 3 guys looking for drivers but when i ask them about the pay they cant tell you what they will pay you . i tried to help a guy that wonted to put his truck on the road and lease it on to a company and i did the figuring what the truck coast to run in miles on a trip with different figures as to what the truck fuel millage was and the cost of fuel and what it would take to pay a driver and make the owner of the truck money .it came down to the truck would haft to get a round $3:00 a mile paying a driver say 32% of the load for a average driver wages to be around $600 to $800 a week. its just not in the cards.in less the driver runs a round 3500 miles or more a week.but i still wanting to do my part and and drive for a living if i can. with most companies if there only paying $1:10 are less a mile it be hard to haft to pay a drive and make any money for him self i don't think it can be done unless the small company screwed the drive out of his pay.if there's some one who reads this can dispute my words bring it on. I'm waiting for some answers my figures say other wise.

I heard NYS is cracking down on idlng, but that's not were I drive. CA has a similar law but I haven't heard of anyone getting busted yet. I will turn my AC off when the cops do the same in 105
degree heat.

you got the same magazine as i did, and i posted the anti-idling laws in another thread....

basically, "for driver comfort during the rest period/break" is what is allowed. idling needlessly at a warehouse or on the city streets is where the "crack downs" should be taking place.

i have not heard of anyone getting tickets yet for unecessary idling, but give it some time, and some driver will say something like,

"i know a guy that knows a guy, that knew of a guy, that a friend of his knew of some guy that was related to some guy that was talking to some guy, that was saying that he got a ticket"..........

and so the "story" goes..............

just idling your truck for "driver comfort" on your 10 hour break........should be no problem.....also, BE SURE to show yourself "in the sleeper" on your log, if the coppers come a knocking.........

Refer to this thread:
HELP I'm not allowed to idle truck?

There is a link to ATI's website. It lists the idling regs for every state and has the expections. Some states allow you to idle ONLY when you are the sleeper and on your 10 hour. Some states(ny and ca) have NO exceptions.
