Default Hazmat Endorsement good for how long?

hello,

I am a one day member on these boards, have been reading lots of threads, but have a question;

I got my cdl in 2004 in TX with hazmat endorsement. I am confused about new laws so how do I know if my X endorsement is expired? I thought it expired when my license expires in 2011, but I have some fellow drivers saying that I should have taken a background test to renew it already? Can anyone help?

Thnx

You have to retake the Hazmat written test each time you renew your DL.

Only now you have to pay the TSA $100.00 to undergo an FBI background check and scan your fingerprints into their database, since the Patriot Act and 9/11.

The DMV will give you a temporary pass on your HM endorsement for about 90 days or so if you pass the written test.

If the TSA/FBI reports come back "dirty" for any reason you will not get your Hazmat endorsement and you will have to ask for a waiver to get clearance.

Just more damn hoops the government makes us jump through so we can all "feel" safe!

In Wisconsin, our CDL renews every 8 years. The haz-mat portion has to be renewed every 4 years.

as the others have said, when your current license expires, so does your hazmat. you will need to get the backgroaund checks as per your state DMV requirements, for whatever YOUR state charges. do not let the hazmat background check expire BEFORE you get your license renewed. as soon as you get the results back from the TSA, get your license renewed, BEFORE it expires.

I've got five bucks that soon we will have to get CDL's, and TSA Haz-Mat's renewed at every DOT physical no matter which state it is in.
