Trainee - Looking for opportunity (dump truck) in Akron, OH area

Hi guys! My name is Hennacy. I recently obtained my
temporary Class A CDL with air brakes, tanker, combo & hazmat
endorsements. I am 40 years old, have a clean driving
record, no criminal background and drug-free. I am
looking for a company that will allow me to ride along
with one of the drivers to show me the ropes wiith
hopes of future employment as a dump truck driver.

I have wanted to drive dump since I was a little girl,
as I used to ride along with my dad. After all of
these years of working in an office environment doing
bookkeeping, I am tired of the 9-5 office politics and being indoors and I have finally began my goal of getting
out of the office to the road...

Anyone have any hints on where to start? It would be greatly appreciated.

just apply to some companies,be straight up with em,let them know that you are starting out,you should be able to get in somewhere.good luck!

I'm a dump driver here in Texas. I have a lot of info for you which will help you when you go to companies and apply as Oilboi said, being straight up. It helps to have a little info under your belt.

I used to work for Jonick & Co. in Sheffield Village. They are up on the lake west of Cleveland. They have a dump division and used to run back and forth to the steel mills in the Akron/Canton area. Don't know about the hiring req.'s anymore but they may be worth a shot.
