| | Don't Kill the Meth Head, Miss the Rodeo
At this week's 71st annual National Truck Driving Championships in Houston, legendary five-axle and auto-transporter jockeys will compete to find out who's best at snuggling up to a loading dock or negotiating an obstacle course.
They won't, however, be tested on their ability to dodge Oregon meth heads at freeway speed. As Bryan Bauman, the state's five-axle champ, just discovered, that skill gets you booted from the driving rodeo, not invited to the victory stand. A champion truck driver gets the boot - OregonLive.com |

Thats funny how someone elses bad habits have such a large impact on someone they dont even know.Thats crappy that he cant compete,I just went through a P.D.I.C.,Professional driver improvement course one which was mandatory for all employees. The instructor of this course stated that all accidents are avoidable.I do not agree, your post might be a good example ,what more was Bauman supposed to do.He could have possibly created another accident trying to avoid this one.
I have more examples of unavoidable accidents, which I didnt mention as I would have been wasting my time as this instructor seemed to have an answer for everything,a bit of a smarty pants.

The instructor apparently thinks himself impervious to accidents and when he is in one he'll possibly change his tune.....or not.
ALL ACCIDENTS are not avoidable as many have and many will discover.
He NEEDS a wake up call and soon enough, I'm sure, someone will set him up for it or it'll simply be unavoidable somewhere.

It's enormously pathetic when a SAFE DRIVER gets into an accident and is thus canceled from participation in an event that has nothing whatsoever to do with the accident which wasn't his/her fault in the first place.
---
Our society is....well suffice it to say it is what it is and it'll seemingly just get worse before some things alter its current course towards self destruction or so it seems from MY perspective.
---
I hope Life finds you well in all your pursuits!

| | Thats not fair to Bryan, I agree with you oilboi, some accidents are not avoidable, we had a safty man here that said the same thing, he said if he had it his way, if some one crossed the line and hit you head on it would be preventable, when questioned about it he said a driver should see far enough ahead to see it coming he pretty much buffaloed me with that one, needless to say he got fired for making the wrong comments during a warehouse meeting. I wonder if Bryan has any recourse? Totally not fair, after all this he probably doesn't want to be associated with that bunch anyhow. |

All accidents are *not* preventable and never will be unless we have a perfect world. Lots of accidents are preventable, yes.
All?
No.
I have seen drivers with 30 year patches and 3M miles on their work shirts/jackets get into accidents, both their fault and/or the other drivers fault.

This wasn't Baumans fualt at all. Just bad luck that day.
