MikeP is on a distinguished road
Default Maybe one you can help my family.

Hey guys, my name is Mike. I have a huge problem that I am hoping one of you might be able to help with. BTW I do have Jeff's permission to post this here.

2 days ago my brother in law died in his sleep. His wife and daughter need to get their stuff from Arkansas to California to live with my family. I have been all over the internet and on the phone getting quotes from moving companies as well as U-Haul, Penske, and POD's. The cheapest that we can find is around $2,000. After the funeral, we won't be able to scrape up that kind of money. I am wondering if there is a trucker that might be able to put their stuff on an empty trailer to bring it to California. We will be able to pay but right now we just aren't sure how much. The move would have to be in about a week or less. I know this is short notice but its the best we can do.

Whether you guys can help or not, thanks for taking the time to read this...

my sincere condolances for your family's loss. i am not an owner-operator, nor do i travel that route. but i am sure with-in time someone will be here to help you.

some of us "might be" able to help you if you can tell us some info like your zip code and the other zip code the trip starts from. this will give someone time to figure out a price for you. and if you are not sure of zip code of the Arkansas location, give a city/town at least.

but just to inform you a bit more, someone may want a minimum of say $1.00 to $1.75 per mile, to at least pay for the fuel. this is just a "guesstimate"........

Try setting up a PayPal account (it's free) and let people donate money to help you out. When my wife's mother died out in California we were in a bad financial state and people from a political message board I frequented took donations and bought my wife and her sister both tickets to fly out to California, paid for a rental car and their flight back.

The kindness of strangers should never be underestimated.

By the way, the political board was a conservative republican site and every person that donated was a republican. No democrats helped out.

Hi I'm a retired city driver from UPS Freight.
My company has a moving service where they charge by the foot to nose load household ,and personal items in their pup trailers.
You only have to provide 2 sheets of 4x8 chip board.
UPS Freight drops their 28' pup trailer wherever you want it.
You load it up,then stand the 2 sheets of board on end, locking them against your stuff with load bars that are provided by the trucking company.
They load their trailer the rest of the way with LTL freight which keeps your costs at a minimum.
They bring their trailer to the destination terminal, get their freight unloaded, then drop the trailer off where you want to unload it.
Just call your area UPS Freight terminal, and they will give you a quote for the space you will need to use for everything.

ABF also has this same service, but seeing I'm a former UPS Freight driver I naturaly am promoting my company first.
Hope this information help you out.

Hey Mike,
I don't know where you are in this State, I am in Van Buren, the UPS Freight closest to me is in Lowell AR., I think its Lowell, anyhow its in NWA call them, that may be a lower cost alternitive, Good luck to you, I'll put your family on my prayer list, let us know what happens, and what you find out about UPS Freight if you call them.
