Default LTL Companys

I'm a newbie. Reading all the posts on different Truck Companys out there. WOW,sure seems like a cut-throat world in the trucking business. Most part, they tell you what you want to hear, and after you get hired, your screwed. I live in Calif. and looking to start somewhere to get 1 year exp. then move on. What are some of the LTL Companys?

If you are only looking to get 1 year experience and move on, I would stay away from the LTL's. Typically, the first year is the hardest due to being at the bottom of the board. You would spend more time on a forklift than you would behind the wheel of a truck.

Anyway, the non-union ltl carriers out your way would be FEDEX Freight/National, R&L Carriers, Conway, and Estes.

The union LTL's are UPS Freight, Yellow, Roadway, ABF, and Holland. (Not sure if Holland is in Ca)

If you only want 1 year, you would be better off at a truckload carrier. You would get more time behind the wheel. Good luck though.

Jakebrake is right and furthermore most of the LTL outfits require 2 yrs experience to begin with.

FEDEX National requires one year OTR with no tickets / accidents .... after you get your one year in you should try to get with an LTL if you want more home time

Thanks for the replys. Being a newbie I will probably get screwed no matter where I go. So I'm going to start with Swift. The school I went to deals with them.
