Why do we keep losing freight members?

I was talking to someone yesterday who said that he's happy with the Local 776 Dan Virtue slate/ticket. My question is...if the slate is so good, why are we continually losing freight members in this local? This isn't a freight local anymore! Of approximately 7,000 members, only about 1,700 are freight members. This concerns me....does it you? I'd like to know what you think.

i think it's time to look to new horizons....people should take a serious look at the WILSON slate in the up coming elections.....

I guess you would have us all think that the virtue slate is responsible for several things that have contributed to freight numbers going down such as,deregulation,companies such as Carolina ,Red Star,Halls,CF going out of business,Changes of operations that have been approved by the IBT that our local has objected to when 99% of the other locals have given the companies the rubber stamp,and last but not least the economy is a mess.As far as this not being a freight local I would disagree the fact is that the freight guys are still the most active in all aspects of the local therefore they set the tone. You might not know but our local is the biggest freight local in the eastern region.
Now for what I think. Fact is that in the 20 plus years I have worked at Roadway the guys that represent us now by far have been the best without question. Before them this was a concentration camp ask anyone that has been here more than 10 years. Now is like a country club.These guy don't take any s hit from the company and because of their knowledge we have been protected better than most.Talk to any of our guys that moved in the change of ops and they will tell you that they did not realize what they had here most wish they could come back to our local.

Hey brother what are you smoking did you check these guys out I don't think you have.www.votethewilsonslate.com. I did what I see is a management slate more Bose's on the slate than we have at the big R. One brags about being a supervisor in freight for 20 years and has only been a teamster for 5 now all of the sudden he is going to be a Ba.give me a break 4 of these guys were either managers,supervisors or business owners the rest with a couple of exception have never even been union stewards. Electing these guys would be like electing your boss as your BA. Give me a break. VOTE THE VIRTUE SLATE real teamsters not Bose's.
