i don't care if a company is paying $1.00 per mile.....the money isn't great if the miles ain't there.....
i'd rather be paid .40 ¢ per mile and get 3,000 miles........
times are slow (still) in many areas. my last job which i left just 3 weeks ago, i was only getting 1,000 miles a week, and even that is if i was lucky enough to get any freight, as there was 6 other drivers ahead of me.
PAM/Decker.....PAM has been around for a while. they used to recruit drivers like flies to dog crap.........by owning Decker, they ain't improved too much..........
if they are "willing" to sponsor you, expect to sign about 5,000 pages of promisary notes that you will stay on with them for any where's from 1 to 3 years, or else you WILL PAY THEM BACK the full training costs.......
you may not have cash to pay for trucking school, but you can (probably) get a student loan, if not on your own, maybe someone like a relative will co-sign for you.....BUT don't pay them back, and you're just as doomed.
DO NOT EXPECT to get home every week as promised, or when YOU NEED to be home for an important appointment....you will be and are, an indentured slave if you have them train you at thier cost.....they in effect.....OWN YOUR @SS............
