Default P.A.M Decker

Hello all. Was thinking about signing on with PAM. Saw a PAM truck in the neighborhood and stopped to talk to the driver. New hisself but said he only gets about 1,100 miles a week. This seem very low. Unless he makes .50/ml not very much money. Said his home time is hit and miss also. Is this the milage that I can expect to get when I start driving? Or is this company just slow? Anybody know of PAM? Will sponsor me is what attracted me. Don't have the cash to pay for driving school out of pocket.

i don't care if a company is paying $1.00 per mile.....the money isn't great if the miles ain't there.....

i'd rather be paid .40 ¢ per mile and get 3,000 miles........

times are slow (still) in many areas. my last job which i left just 3 weeks ago, i was only getting 1,000 miles a week, and even that is if i was lucky enough to get any freight, as there was 6 other drivers ahead of me.

PAM/Decker.....PAM has been around for a while. they used to recruit drivers like flies to dog crap.........by owning Decker, they ain't improved too much..........

if they are "willing" to sponsor you, expect to sign about 5,000 pages of promisary notes that you will stay on with them for any where's from 1 to 3 years, or else you WILL PAY THEM BACK the full training costs.......

you may not have cash to pay for trucking school, but you can (probably) get a student loan, if not on your own, maybe someone like a relative will co-sign for you.....BUT don't pay them back, and you're just as doomed.

DO NOT EXPECT to get home every week as promised, or when YOU NEED to be home for an important appointment....you will be and are, an indentured slave if you have them train you at thier cost.....they in effect.....OWN YOUR @SS............

Don't bother with PAM, They have laid off at least 150 drivers sence jan. The miles are getting shorter and on top of all of that they just gave all drivers a 5% pay cut!

The 5% paycut has ended and there driver all got the pay back. And PAM is rehiring as we speek. I believe the trucking industry is what you make of it. Yes you are going to be committed to pam if you go through there training. What do you expect. there paying for you to get started. The hav invested into you hoping you will be committed to them. If you are a person who wines and want the mommy every week you will get less miles. If you are professional and do a good job you will get the miles. Pam is a large company and large companys tend to get the loads firts. Idk, But if you read about any company that is talked about on this site, there is going to be someone talking bad about them. But i believe it is the indevidule that has a hair in there ***. Maybe they were taking off the tit to soon at birth. But it is easier for them to complain then it is for them to compliment. Think about it.

Do I understand you right? Are you saying you would rather drive 3,000 miles to make $1200 than drive 1200 miles to make $1200?
