Default Companies with bad reps.

I've heard that Swift(See What I F*****up Today) and JB Hunt both have bad reputations with other drivers from listening to the CB. Can someone tell me why?
Is it true that some JB HUNT trucks have yellow trailer doors so the driver knows which end to hook to? A buddy told me a while back that one of their drivers tried hooking to the wrong end so they painted the doors yellow.
What other companies should I stay away from to keep from being harrassed on the road?

the "yellow door" thing was simply a joke people would continue to repeat if only to bust the chops of a JB Hunt driver...

what it is, is that some companies hire students right out of school (trucking school) and teach them to drive, but they are really supposed to "hone" the skills they learned in those schools.

anyway, it's been said that ANY ONE with a new license, THAT NEVER DROVE BEFORE is in a high risk catagory for an accident with-in thier first 1 to 2 years till they gain experince....

now mind you, THIS INCLUDES 16-17 YEAR OLDS who get thier driving license for the first time.......but, you NEVER HEAR any bad mouthing of a teen now do you....???

every one that wants to become a truck driver MUST START someplace....some people were/are fortunate enough to have family members that maybe perhaps were/are owner-operators, so professional schooling wasn't required.....

but i can whole heartedly assure you, in my 20 years of driving, I HAVE SEEN MORE PROFESSIONAL TRUCK DRIVERS, THAT COULD NOT BACK UP into a loading dock door or even a truck stop parking space.......!!!

how come no one "bad mouths" a so-called professional driver that can't back up.......????

i do, and i call them morons..........and i'll add, if i ever see or hear such stupid talk out of an o/o, i'll call him on his backing skills......watch how fast he gets away from me..........

as far as what companies to stay away from, so you don't get harrassed...???

ALL OF THEM.........no one is immune to being harrassed........just some more than others.....pick one......

if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.......

Swift really gets hammered in the fuel stop parking lots. I asked my finisher about it once and he said they just have a bad reputation for hitting ppl. I though that was kinda cute til I hit a parked flatbed. Now, in my defense, a USA truck was parked illegally and I was trying to squeeze between him and another row of trucks because he parked at the scale area but it was MY fault. Any company that hires newbs is gonna have more accidents.

The J.B.Hunt stuff really started in the early 80s. They were the first common carrier to get really large (over 1000 trucks) and haul at a discount rate. (At the time Schneider had around 300 trucks and ran primarily in the midwest). J.B. did everything cut-rate,including the way they treated their drivers. The trucks were stripped down Internationals. Not even AM/FM radio. When a driver came home he was required to cean all of his belongings out and get a different truck when he went back out. This led to drivers "voluntarily" staying out longer to avoid that hassle every time they came in. Later on they made a big PR move by being the first large common carrier to pay .40+ CPM. In many peoples eyes that did nothing to make up for all the years they cut everybody's throat with cheap freight. Believe me, the J.B. smack you hear now is mild compared to what is once was.

I've seen that alot where I work. Our plant is about 400 ft long with a about a 15' wide driveway for trucks to back in. Alot of trucks we load have to back up about 300 ft. into the plant and cant do it. I've backed a few in for the drivers that have problems. I drove a wrecker for 15 yrs so backing isn't really a big problem for me. Do you think I'll have a problem getting on anywhere without going to a driving school? The driver we have now is retiring in March and he taught me. I passed my test on the first try and the guy giving me the test said I did alot better than drivers he taught in school. I'm not trying to toot my own horn but I dont want to be denied a job because I didn't go to a driving school.
