Default SWIFT rider program

I was thinking of swift to get my CDL and stay a year then move on. I was wondering what the "stipulations and insurance charges apply" in the fine print of the rider program section actually means? I am married and would like my wife to be able to come along at times, we have discussed team driving but she needs to get an idea of what it is like on the road before commiting to it. I have grown up in a family involved in trucking and in fact drove a hotshot rig for a short time years ago so I know what im getting into if I commit to it. I realize swift has a bad rep, but I am simply thinking of the training and rider program. Any input would be appreciated.

I worked for a company once that issued a rider permit for a designated period of time(usually a week or two) rather than an ongoing privilege. And they would deduct money from paycheck for "passenger insurance". And this was available only after one year safe driving. I don't know what the stipulations are at Swift, but it sounds like it could be something of that nature.

to the best of my knowledge, Swift's rider policy is that you pay monthly for it (insurance). how much that is, i think i was told $30 per month. you only pay for the months you want it, not all year round. i do also believe anyone can go with you, but the minimum age is (about) 16....????

anyway's i am going on memory right now. a swift driver should come here soon enough to give more information.

Going through my company handbook today and found our rider policy. After thirty days employment we are are allowed a passenger. Must be an immediate family member aged eighteen or older. There is a payroll deduction of $15.00 per week for insurance. That's not Swift, but maybe that gives you an idea what to expect.
