Default double clutching

Hello
its me again, well i have been in school for a few days now, Today we actually got in the trucks, I was able to diconnect from trailer and move foward and then back up.. Anyone know where i can find more info on double clutching, they say some get and some dont... i beleive i am one of those that dont..
push in to floor and get in put in gear. move then do you actually push it in a little and remove from that gear and get in nuetral. then release, then push clutch back in a little and then shift into second.. i guess i will find out but just dont want to be the STUPID one,,

It would be great if it were automatic..

Well the new going to school cdl driver..

Any help would be helpful..

I don't use it,just gets in the way.But you have an idea there.Clutch in,pull out of gear, release clutch, press clutch in again, match up the rpms and gear in.

I almost washed out of truck driving school because of double clutching and a close second backing........4 years later I laugh at this.

It's steps:
the sticky part is any time your going up or down you've got to make 2 moves. One for neutral and then again to get it into another gear. Look atwww. youtube.com for videos. under double clutching
It's just going to click someday soon. Keep watching your classmates as they take their time in the driving seat. Break it down into steps and in your hotel room while your watching t.v. set up some props and pretend to have break, clutch, accelerator, shifter and steering wheel and practice some while relaxing.
Once you get it you'll find, or at least I did, that when I rode my motorcycle I wanted to double clutch for a minute :)

You didn't mention backing, but I'll let you know that It took me a whole year to get "OK" at it and I'm still improving. Now most days I'm able to get it right in some pretty tight wholes.

Attitude is sooo important. Keep the faith. First 1/2 year I would be in the phone (hands free) and get into a heavy traffic I trained my wife and family to hold on while I thought through down shifting around curves, gear to speed ratios..... now it's pretty much second nature.
Good luck!

When I went to CDL school the instructor taught double clutching as a rhythm, it may sound dumb but you can practice it in your computer chair...this is also good for learning/memorizing the gears as you get used to them. I still double clutch everyday in the truck, its good practice, even though alot of guys I work with float the gears...good luck with training, what kind of trucks are you learning in???

Thanks again for the reply.. i watched a few at you tube, but most of them show shifting but not the actual clutch movements etc.. I have faith somewhat.. trying to hold the wheel shift gears and all the other odds and ends are all new.. i can drive a clutch in a car with no proble mat all.. they say it would be better if i didnt no how to drive a clutch.. ( i have no one to blame for that one. ) Well like i said before it is only day 3 tommorow and the class is like 7 weeks long, so i hope i will see the light or something come on.. Its a volvo 2007 10 speed i beieve.. well again i will keep you posted.. thanks again...
