Cool

This will sound funning, but I made more money doing food service.Hauling fuel, can be easy, after you learn how to do it safely. Its not the big bucks, you think unless you get with an union co.After seeing I95 burn up,by an fuel truck,I quit the job, after 2 years.

Not to rain on your parade but...
I have never heard of fuel company hiring someone with out at least 2+ years safe driving experience. Now if you are thinking of straight trucks doing home delivery maybe, but I am betting that they will want at least a year in an equal size truck. One other thing IF you are able to get CDL can you pass a HazMat background check? See http://development04.teamster.org/re...sFAQs_0205.pdf or
TSA: Eligibility

Agreed.

Once you get some experience under your belt you can run some fuel tankers. I know some guys at avalon energy and they're happy with their job, and raess tankers is always hiring. Those two pay in the low 20s per hour.

Chicagoland is a good place to get into driving because there are a lot more opportunites than most places due to it being a major transportation lane.

I got my CDL 4 years ago with the thought of eventually hauling fuel. I thought that it would paid well and give me a good schedule. 4 years later I am laid off from my union job and considering fuel. But the money is not really there. They have some tractor trailer fuel hauling jobs that pay $12-13/hr. That's ridiculous! There are some better paying ones but overall I've found that the risk is not compensated. You make a little more than hauling milk in most cases.
