Good luck, i don't know anything about the companies you mentioned other than seeing their trucks on the road. Best wishes on your job search.

After my boss shut the doors one of our drivers went there and he's still there. He gets home every 2 weeks (his choice) and he's never complained about 'em. He's gotta be there a bit over 6 years now. He runs from PA to TX and all points in-between.

Instead of going back otr, I would check with several fuel haulers or milk haulers. From being with ABF, I know that you are not going to be happy with any of the mega truck load carriers.

This time of the year, most of the fuel haulers are looking for part-time drivers and from your post, you must be around Bristol. I would check out the dairies in and around Kingsport and Bristol and see who is pulling the milk in. Most of the milk haulers could always use a few part-timers.

"Transport Topics" a few weeks ago said Smith transport was bought by US Express out of GA,A big T/L carrier. USX does alot of hauling for fedex freight, seems like that would feel awkward hauling their freight for less than fxf pays their own people.

Not sure if you'd prefer local work coming from ABF but Smith does have local work, I see their black Freightliner Daycabs hauling freight from the local Quaker Oats Foods Warehouse, haven't met any drivers though...
