i'm not even a rookie but would like to....
Allo, i'm new to your forums. I was hoping any of you would know anything about grants or scholarships one could use to take a CDL class. At first I thought I could pick up on driving a semi in 8 days, boy was I wrong. I went up to GreenBay to take Schneider's crash course in driving a semi, after one week they said I needed a slower type of a class and sent me home with a $1500 bill. . .
I've tried using google and scholarship search engeins only to come up short every time. given how the nine yards were set up for the pell grant and student loans. I can't use eather to pay for this class. Now given how i'm considered as low income, one would think they would allow those to pay for a simple $2500 class. Also I have no one that's willing to be a co-signer for me. so a personal loan is out of the question.
I have contacted the Mid-West Truckers Association to ask them if they know anything that could help me out. I'm just waiting hear back from them.
I'm wanting to get in to trucking cause I love the idea of being able to travle from place to place. also one could say it's in my blood, you see my father was once a truck driver as well. Granted i don't have too many skills, about the only thing i know how to do well is drive. So help me god, once i can start driving i'll be doing OTR, and after my second year of driving i'll setup a scholarship/grant for those in the same spot as me. i'll put a side of $15,000 to help pay for 5 students to get through the class. but if any of you know of anything that could help this young Fox get out on the road it would be a major help.
