jo57 is on a distinguished road
Default What's your favorite truck driving gripe?

Life on the road has gotten fairly routine over the last couple of years. You know, hurry up and wait, gotta be there on time no matter what, driving in all weather, putting up with obnoxious people, sleeping in noisy neighborhoods (truckstops), and listening to the colorful "stories" on the CB. My favorite beef though is this:

Cruising down the interstate and some person decides that the acceleration lane is made for stopping because the "big truck" on the road scared them (my interpretation).

More than anything else, that just gets me going. I've been the one on the highway when they stopped and I've been the one behind them when they stopped. Sometimes I wonder if the average person has a clue what the acceleration lane is for on a major highway.

Or worse, the ones who are not even looking when they are entering on the freeway on-ramp, usually yakking away on a cellphone or tuning the radio.

Out here in NZ the speed limit for trucks is 90 Klm & 100klm for cars, I hate it when you finally get up to 85/90, then some wanker in a tin top decides he only want's to travel at 75 klm, you can't pass him because of your size, so you wait till the passing lane comes up, & hey the wanker now want's to do 100/110 klm but then of course when the passing lane runs out, said wanker drops back to 75 klm again.
My x wife on occasions would ride with me & ask me why I yell & scream at people in cars, I would smile & say to keep my sanity Darling My 2nd eldest son used to ask the same question, he is now a trucker, & said awhile back, I now realise why you used to do your swede at the wankers in cars Dad.

Here in Kansas,we have something similar,on our 2 lanes when you come up to a passing lane a sign will say SLOWER TRAFFIC RIGHT LANE ONLY" here you can count on some moron to just stay in that left lane @62mph [usually one of those "paid training companies"]by the time you figure this idiot isn't going to move right you can't get by him because the passing lane is about to run out.If its busy you're stuck behind this dipstick for another 7to10 miles untill you come to the next pass lane Note to kiwiray speed limit 65mph on improved 2 lanes here'

Default My major gripe.

I hate getting stuck in the #1 or "fast lane" when I got over there in the first place to let some wanker get on the freeway smoothly, instead of having to break hard or punch it to get on the roadway.

Then the idiot sits there next to my rig, making me unable to get back in the slow lane and risk getting a citation from Smokey.

Whats worse is when a fellow driver does that to me. Some schmuck who should know better.
