Minimum $10,000.00 in the bank AFTER you have arranged for and financed a truck including the down payment.

Its important all your personal finances are in order as well so you may focus on the business. The first 2 to 3 years will be a real struggle and you do not want to be put into the position where you must choose between paying your truck note or paying your mortgage.

no i havent...i ran across a guy at the truck stop and asked him and he said about 5k will get you started but you will need more i figured that was kinda low..i was talking to my dad the other day and he told me that as long as you working for somebody you will never be rich you only make what they want you to make and if you had your own business at least you will have a CHANCE to get rich thats why i started thinking about being an O/O and i also hear guys just doing it for the money but in my case its not that i love just looking at rigs let alone driving one

Lots of company drivers with lots of safe miles under thier belts make 85,000 per year. Or even much more more.

That's nothing to sneeze at and you will have less stress.

Of course you wont own the rig, but that can turn into a money pit in a hurry if you are an O/O.

There is no answer to that,
Lets say you have enough left over for a motor job
15,000 or so
nice piece of change
Now you are truckin
and your motor goes
(used trucks are hand grenades with their pins pulled btw)
you pay for the motor
now you have no money put away
