Default Flashing In

New drivers just a piece of info that used to be a common courtesy, but today nobody seems to be able to do.When another big truck has passed your rig and it is okay for that driver to move back over to the slow lane, Please turn your headlights off then back on. This is the proper way to flash someone in. Flicking your bright lights at that truck that passed you is an annoying thing to do at night . And it just shows everyone you are a new driver. We all will appreciate this.

Amen. And one more common courtesy that seems to have been forgotten. When a slower truck has moved left to allow you room to get off the ramp and into the lane don't race to get in front of them, they moved so you could get out, show them the same courtesy by letting them back in front of you and then you safely pass them on the LEFT!

Yeah I drive a slow truck and 7 years ago this was hardly ever an issue but in the last couple of years it has become a major issue with me.

I've quit flashing in daylight on an open road. It just doesn't seem to matter anymore. With the advent of daytime running lights people seem to think you've flashed them and then come over and thank you (even though you haven't yet). This after they've left a small gap between you and them. Now where do you go if all of a sudden there's an emergency? You've lost sight of whats ahead of you until they pull away,or you back out of it. I've found if I don't flash, drivers tend to leave more of a gap before they move over. Gives me more breathing room.
I flash at night or in specific situations, i.e., long doubles, triples, oversize, road hazard ahead.
I take no offense when someone doesn't flash me, I know my limitations.
And PLEASE don't flash your high beams at night. Most of us would rather you did nothing.

Hell I'm just happy when they use their signals to move back in the right lane after they pass.Did I miss the meeting when it was decided you no longer needed to signal when changing lanes????This really seems to be common amongst the guys that drive for Ma&Pa outfits.Respect the job do it right,or go back to construction,or mining or whatever in the hell else you did.

Trucking schools discourage flashing and any type of gesture that could be construed as directing another motorist to proceed. It is a question of liability and becoming party to a lawsuit in the event of an accident.

Thanks to daytime running lights many trucks no longer have the option of "flashing" them (other than the hi- beams).

I would suggest stop flashing altogether. No-one likes to be blinded at night and drivers on the road SHOULD be able to judge for themselves when it is SAFE to re-enter a lane after passing a slower vehicle.

I don't flash anyone anymore and do not ask for anyone to flash me over. Thank you anyway but I am more than capable of judging how much space I have between me and you on the roadway.
