California idling laws....

anyone have a good idea whats what?
i woke up this morning and saw "highway patrol" van perusing the FLYING J lot. giving a WHOLE bunch of ppl tickets. kept hearing on the radio from other drivers telling everyone to shut the trucks off.

my ? is, whats the law like over here (my 2nd time this far out, usually dont go past NM lol)

its cold out here a bit and the LAST thing i wanna see when i wake up is a god forsaken ticket on my window.

also, can police go into a private lot ( i assume thats what FJ parking is) and start harassin ppl? i mean in the highway or side of the road ok but a parking lot thats MEANT for drivers to rest etc...can they do that?

Yes. If you look at most parking lots, casinos, ect. there are signs posted that CVC laws are enforced there. As to the DOT chippies they need to make money for California's budget crisis so if you freeze to death tand hey could care less. Just don't pollute (while they waste gas looking for trucks running a heater). Best bet is to avoid CA like the plague. This is not a trucker friendly state at all.

I just tell them I have perishable medicine in my electric cooler that I need to live and Im not shutting the truck off for anyone. If they dont like it, they can just write me a ticket. It will just get sent off to pre-paid legal to be litigated. Then I will sue everyone involved. Im not going to ruin $500 worth of insulin for anyone. I have an insulin waiver issued by the FMCSA which allows me to take insulin while driving. Therefore, logic would dictate due care would have to be taken to safeguard the insulin. Also, diabetes is covered under the americans with disabilities act, which is a federal law. Let them write their tickets, I wont pay them without a fight...
