I went through a sudden job loss New Years day of '02. Company just up and shut the doors, no warning, just adios. After the initial shock comes fear and some depression. It is cliched to say "hang in there" but its the truth. You gotta be patient and try not to take the first crappy job that comes along. Things will get better and as the old saying goes, "what don't kill you only makes you stronger".
That job loss turned out to be a blessing for me but it didn't come overnight.
That wake-up call taught me to go "lean" in my financial debt. So I got everything payed off as soon as I could and am now ready for whatever comes next.
Good luck to you all. You will make it through!

The dos and don’ts of talking to the laid-off
Keep the person positive and looking to what could happen in future
