Default Company hurting job hunting with wrong information

I am a fairly new driver who left his first company last year after repeated problems with the company. While I was in California, I did have an accident while bobtail. The accident was found by the company to be non-preventable and it is not on my DAC or MVR. I had a minor accident in the yard at Fontana, Ca., in which I was turning in close quarters in a cramped yard, and my trailer contacted another trailer, doing no damage of note to either one. I was backing into a Pilot in Quartzite, Az. and had contact with another company's truck (likely, about $1000 worth of damage.) Neither of these were serious in nature and neither was investigated by law enforcement. When I got to Phoenix, I was relieved by this company (Western Express) and was lied to coming and going. None of thse incidents are on my DAC or my MVR, but when I try to apply with another company, Western Express is telling prospective employers that "applicant has 4 minor backing incidents", which is not altogether true at all. Is there any way to combat this, or am I out of trucking altogether?

you were "relieved" by that company because as a newbie, you demonstrated that you are careless........

i counted 3 accidents by your admission here, so the forth is missing..........

YES, your former employer WILL TELL anyone of your accidents. all accidents are reportable, no matter the degree of damage. your former employer will not lie for you..........

i think you need to go back to your driving school and get a refresher course in backing........and driving forward.....as a bobtail, there should have been no excuse for any accident, you were either speeding or careless in another way.......

you claim you "left the company after repeated problems"..............you left them(??), but you said they "relieved you".............fired you actually...........so you didn't leave them voluntarily.........

not all accidents HAVE to be investigated by law enforcement..........the company had determined you are a person who is NOT capable of operating a big rig, and they fired you..........

as far as your future in this industry, you had better take steps to improve yourself, other wise, give up now while you can...........go back to school.........you are untouchable right now..........

Not all accidents have to reported to DAC or put on your MVR. They are however listed in your file at your now former employer.

The only way I can see you continuing driving a truck is with a company that wants a warm body. (You do have a warm body, don't you?) Companies are very picky on who they will hire. Most will not hire you without talking to your former employer. When they find out that you have had 4 accidents, preventable or not, they will pass. Up to now it sounds like your accidents were minor. A company isn't going to take the chance that the next one could cause injury or death to someone.

By the sounds of it you just don't pay attention. There should be no reason to have a backing accident. Get out and look if you can't see the other 2 trucks. Get someone to help you by spotting. (Just don't trust that person entirely) Tight yard or not, you should be able to navigate through the yard without hitting something. PAY ATTENTION!

Good luck with your trucking career. If you work on your skills, you might have a chance with continuing it. If you don't, it's probably best for the industry that you find something else to do.

I'm not trying to be harsh, just honest.

PS-Welcome to truckingboards.

Maybe Burger King would be a better place to work for you. Leave trucking to the professionals...
