Default 48 + Canada

I am an wannabe, almost a newbie, looking to start a second career intrucking at age 56. I am interested in OTR flatbed driving all over the USA and into Canada. That may sound crazy to some of you, but I really want to drive all over North America. I am in good health and reasonably physically fit. Two questions: 1) am I crazy to try to do this? and 2) would folks recommend Watkins and Shepard? Thanks for any replies.

No more crazy than those of us already with a few miles under our belts and looking as well for a home, not just a job.

MANY companies are still hiring Newbies and many are not.

I'm unfamiliar with Watkins and Sheppard since I'm specifically a Dry Van operator.

I'm sure you'll discover that of which you seek.

US old ferts (I'm 50) need places that will hire US too, so
I hope the BEst uv WELLness 2-u-n-urs-n ALL adventures!!

One thing you may find difficult to work with in Canada, is the preponderance of 8 axle trains.

They are 25 meters (82 feet) long, and weigh 63,500 KG (140,000 pounds).

Most Canadian company trucks will be equipped with 475 to 550 hp engines, so don't expect quick starts or skyrocket climbs up the hills.

Take your time, and be patient. We are dpoing the best we can under the circumstances.

Thanks for your input. You are not old. Hey, I'm 6 years older, but I consider myself "mature." Now my Mom is old -- she's 97!

You're welcome.
Anyone under 110 is young as in those that are over 100 in other Countries and higher Altitudes.
People here in these states are considered Adults when they turn 18, so go figure.
Immature can be read also as I'm mature, LOL.
