TrailerTruckin brought up an interesting point. He is kept busy
buy movings loads out of Idaho. My question is, how are you dispatched so you can get loads out of there? I am thinking you will have to go hours deadheading for any Pickups.

We usually load potatoes out of Idaho.

We have a DC in Burley, ID now and there's a JR Simplot in Heyburn, ID that I'm sure would have loads. Other than that, I don't really know. I try not to go out there. Drivers who go to Burley have a funny habit of spending time running Burley loads to Seattle because they don't have their full complement of drivers yet.

thank you medic,
I did notice there were loads coming out of Blackfoot,ID to National Forest,NJ and Miami,fl which looks too good to be true. But I still like to know how close can you get so you can pickup those loads? How many empty miles you have too drive?

It's been a while since I've had to go out there, but it was usually after delivering a load in Salt Lake City or Billings, MT. I've loaded potatoes out of Rexburg, ID, Aberdeen, ID and Heyburn, ID. The closest deliveries I've made were in Billings and Salt Lake City. They've also sent me out there from Denver a couple of times, although from Denver I usually go to southern Colorado for potatoes.

Keep in mind I'm a company driver so empty miles don't make a difference to me. I don't pay much attention to them unless it's really really windy.

Their is all kinds of loads coming out of Idaho, potato's, onions, i live in Idaho and of course have connections but the brokers also have lots of loads. I book "all" of my own freight coming and going, getting back to Idaho at times is a bit rough.
