Default Starting school Monday

Well i know i am gonna get razzed but i start school for CR England Monday morn.I have been working for a rush courier for 5 yrs and then moved to texas for my wifes job.they hired me as a driver for a small box truck but only got to drive maybe twice a week then they layed me off a week before x-mas. I did alot of looking around and decided on England there school is about 1 hr away from home.I am a driver and being away from home is no problem my kids are grown and my wife says to do what makes me happy.
I have read all the bad stuff about all companys but ya got to start somewhere. Driving is what i like to do.

WELCOME TO TRUCKINGBOARDS!!
I hope you post as you can and keep us updated about your progress, experiences, etc.

I as well have looked at CR England yet I live in a Condo complex in NC and have nowhere to park a Tractor let alone a Combo nor am I to relocate to the Midwest.
Pulling Reefers is an option I have as yet not performed.
I'm not about to chastise anyone for their decision to go to CR England because like you said, I as well as others have said here at TB:
"Everyone begins somewhere"!!
Just AVOID the Lease/Purchase "plan" because it is NOT WORTH THE HASSLE especially for a beginning OTR Driver.
There is NO requirement to do any Lease/Purchase plan at any company despite what the sales/recruiter folk say.
Run for a year or more BEFORE making any decision regarding purchasing equipment.
Your primary goal now is to acquire experience as well as everyday learning new and useful things.
CR England has a very extensive Driver Training regimen.
Specify a Company Trainer as opposed to an Owner Operator Trainer.

I Hope the BEst uv WELLness 2-u-n-urs-n ALL adventures!!

i know 2 people that worked there and all i can say is i wish you the best of luck. you do know though that they are forcing drivers to team up or lease a truck or go find a job somewhere else. I know for a fact drivers who have gone there and refused teams or leasing and have found themselves making 25$ a day sitting in a hotel for a month some even longer. they have a totem pole way of running things. meaning how they distribute freight. first lease teams then lease operators then O/O then team company then what few solo company they have left. with the lack of frieght right now that doesn't add up to much driving and alot more sitting and waiting. I do wish you luck but i would suggest if at all possible go somewhere else. personally they are number one overall in bad companies. yes even ahead of swift. that is because swift pays alot better. speaking of that, what is CR offring you money wise? about .26 - .28 a mile?
