| | Inexperienced and moving....will I be able to find a job?
I am going to be moving to AZ in the next 3 months hopefully, for personal reasons (my girlfriend is having my baby and she decided to move back to where she is comfortable, ya it sucks.....but oh well) and am wondering, will it be possible to find a job hiring with little experience? I just got my full CDL in december, but have my hazmat endorsement. I will do what I have to do to drive trucks, I prefer local (due to family preparation) but will go over the road if I have to.....any clues? I talked to a couple recruiting agencies and they said good luck finding a local job. Should I maybe concentrate on targeting chemical companies? Also, if I do end up having to go over the road, how is it? What kind of away/home time do you have? It is my first child, and I really don't want to go drive over the road two years and miss my childs first words and steps etc. Thanks all!

A new term opened 5 miles from the house a buddie of mine was already in and the rest is history,I lucked out. as far as chem co. maybe if you can latch on with a straight trk to start off and be close to home, pay might be lower but sometimes you have to make sacrifices it not easy to get your cake and eat it too, don't give up and good luck

Opportunities are sometimes Location specific yet not always.
Do some research BEFORE moving and you'll have a better idea of what opportunities are available. You may even be able to set something up.
I Hope the BEst uv WELLness 2-u-n-urs-n ALL adventures!! |

Moving back to Phoenix, I have lived there before. That is where she is from, and has moved back there a little over a month ago. I talked to just a couple of staffing agencies today just to feel some things out and they basically told me since I had less than 2 years experience to forget going local, but that is just from talking to the agencies. I am definitely trying to make plans now. How is over the road? I know it is days straight of 14 driving 10 off (sleeping) with load/unload times included in your drive time etc, but how is the schedule typically on days on/off? I am sure it is company specific what what is a general ballpark?

you might want to look into LTL and foodservice delivery. they both do some hiring with no exp. or might trying some other job while she is pregnant and for the first year. driving will always be here and by then the market might be back up to where a driver can make a decent living again. just think twice before going over the road thinking all is well at home with a woman going thru all she is going thru, alone. and you'll get blamed for it all because you don't care and you just left her all alone and she really "needs" you home right now. and thats just the beginning of all her emotions she will have during and after pregnancy. in what ever you chose i wish the 2 of you the best of luck.

you might need to get trained again
you are trying to force a square peg in a round hole
you are trained in a field
but you are moving to an area where there is little demand
Phoenix?
isn't everyone retired in Phoenix
Get training in anything health care and live happily ever after
