I am a new graduate of CDL school and I have 7 pre-hire offers.
Star (Nashville)
McElroy
Roehl
Swift
Werner
Arrow
Covenent
Any thoughts out there. I am leaning towards McElroy, then Roehl, then Star (until they just called me and have ended the tuition repayment and the idle policy)
Ended the idle policy? What Policy did they have before?
I've always understood the Tuition payback as being a part of the particular Company of their school, not of a separate school.
Of the 7, which has the best overall options or offerings?
I dunno which way to travel: Flatbed or Dry Van.
There are advantages of both however with Flatbeds you will not see a wal mart or a food DC and eliminating those you have a BIG +.
Whatever Company is viewed as the BEST IDEA as stated above.
My "idle policy" is I either run the truck to stay comfortable when I am in it, or the company provides hotel rooms or a generator package, or they can have the truck back...
I did not mean they ended the idle policy. I meant they ended the tuition reimbursement today. I am leaning toward McElroy but the thing that troubles me is that they haul alot of building materials. With the housing slump, I just dont want to be stuck waiting for a load.
The only STAR trucks to have an APU is the trainers. The recruiter told me they expect you to hang out in the truckers lounge to avoid running the truck. Sounds like a company hanging on by its fingernails!
