Default Next Ban. Sex While Driving?

The National Safety Council is pushing to stop the use of cell phones while driving.

The group issued a release calling on motorists to stop using cell phones and messaging devices while driving, and is urging businesses to enact policies prohibiting it and governors and legislators in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to pass laws banning the behavior.

I never understood while they can just come up with a "driving while distracted" law. Make it a secondary offense or charged when involved in a crash. It could cover all of the stupid things we see people doing while driving every day.

Well that will be something the motorcycle riders will protest. They are trying to get rid of the helmet law and want tougher laws like jail time for hitting one.Sounds like they want their own hate crime.

Why is it ok for cops to use cellphones and tap out messages on their laptops mounted in the cars that are wirelessly connected to dispatch while they are moving, but we cant? They all do it and we all see them doing every day...

There is no Law except the Law that is no Law.

Everything that is Illegal is Legal until caught.

Do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

How many Truck drivers here will use a hands free device for their Cellphones yet still tap messages into their Qualcomm while driving??

Which action is worse: Texting a Cellphone or a Qualcomm unit or a Laptop?
---
I LIKE THE IDEA by some Police or State Police in New jersey who will show pictures of accident VICTIMS to the people that they pulled over for cellphone usage. Seems fitting to me.
If ANY CALL IS THAT IMPORTANT, STOP THE VEHICLE!!

DUI/DWI Laws (in the States they're in) have stated the immediate impounding of ones vehicle for such offenses, so talking on a cellphone is equally dangerous ESPECIALLY behind the steering control of ANY CMV!!
Maybe it'll become a Law (probably soon enough in a state near you) that if you're pulled for talking on a cellphone, you can continue to talk all you want WITHOUT YOUR VEHICLE.

...that would certainly be interesting.....
---
Too many people talking on cellphones while driving is becoming/has become the new terror upon roads. Too many people distracted because their life is more important
until they get into a wreck then suddenly it's not their fault....if they're still concious....or even alive.

I have my flack jacket, kevlar helmet and Firemans boots on so c'mon......

Im not saying that its right to be doing any of it. But how can the cops give me a ticket for something that they are guilty of doing? A cop going down the road chatting with his buddies or his dispatcher on a cellphone or laptop mounted next to him is as dangerous as anyone else doing it...
